Interest Petition Gaining Ground in Efforts to Get Outdoor Courts in Fulton

The Fulton Pickleball Club is fighting to get outdoor courts built in Fulton! Currently, we have an interest petition circulating to gather as many names as possible to show the Parks & Recreation Department that there is enough interest in Fulton to investigate the project further. As of November 10, 2023 177 names have been collected via our online petition, which can be found at:

Fulton has a great opportunity to help grow the sport and bring attention to our city in this effort. Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in America. Participation in the sport has grown 158/.6% over the last 3 years to 36.5 million players. According to the SFIA (Sports & Fitness Industry Association), due to its unprecedented growth, it is predicted that 25,000 more courts will need to be built to keep up with the demand. That hits home here in Fulton!

The current use of the YMCA facilities in Fulton provides a limited number of courts for large group play such as leagues and tournaments. With a maximum of 6 courts, but typically only 3, the ability for the club and the sport to grow in the Fulton area is restricted. The YMCA has been a big support of the club, but they also have an obligation to run their business and provide other amenities and programs to Y members that prevent pickleball from having access to the courts to host and run events.

Our Club is growing and we have a goal for 2024 to have at least 100 members. With that many members, we need a facility that can accommodate a growing club.
